In Switzerland, they strive to carry out road repairs and maintenance smoothly without obstructing traffic. To this end, they are also testing new generation traffipax, which operate with integrated digital systems and adapt to the speed limits depending on the situation.
The first tests were carried out at Maroggia, on a section of the A2 motorway, and positive experiences have been reported so far, reports polizeiticker.ch. Instead of traditional speed signs, digital speed signs became the norm. As part of the A2 motorway project, signs have been installed on certain sections that allow the displayed speed to be automatically adjusted depending on the traffic, from 120 to 100 to 80 kilometers per hour. Particular attention was paid to ensuring that the automatic speed change between radar measurements and electronic signs is well coordinated, so that wrongly imposed fines for exceeding the speed limit on the given road section can be avoided.
It is worth noting that even 1 km/h speeding is considered a violation in Switzerland.
