The Romanian government has approved the technical and economic indicators of the highway being built between Timișoara and Timişoara, taking an important step towards the progress of the project. This almost 73 kilometer long highway will connect Timisoara, near the Romanian-Serbian border, with Timișoara, offering significant transport and economic benefits for both countries.
The project has an outstanding budget, its value in Romania is 2.93 billion euros, and the investment must be completed within 48 months after the signing of the contract. This means that the Romanian and Serbian authorities have set a specific and tight deadline for the completion of the construction. The new highway will be an integral part of traffic between Belgrade and Timișoara, which previously began to take shape based on an agreement signed in June 2022 between the Serbian and Romanian parties. A 65-kilometer section will be built on the Serbian side. The biggest advantage that the highway will bring is a significant reduction in travel time.
After the completion of the entire investment, it will be possible to get from Belgrade to Timișoara in just one hour, significantly improving the transport infrastructure and possibilities of the region. In Serbia, the highway will run through Belgrade, Pančova, Versec and Versecvát, enabling fast and efficient connections between the two countries.
