The Slovak parliament recently voted in favor of a new law on one-day motorway stickers, which will come into effect on August 1. One-day motorway vignette will only be valid on the day of purchase, not for 24 hours.
This change can be especially beneficial for those planning short trips in Slovakia or just passing through the country.
The annual motorway vignette, which was valid until the last day of the given calendar year, will be cancelled, but the 365-day road ticket will still be available to motorists.
Transport Minister Jozef Ráz emphasized that the new one-day ticket can be of great help to both domestic short-term travelers and foreign tourists during summer vacations.
According to Infostart's report, based on European Union guidelines, the one-day highway sticker should have been introduced at the end of March, but the Slovak Ministry of Transport did not have enough time to prepare the draft legislation, so the law's entry into force was delayed. This change follows Slovakia among the many EU member states that already use the one-day motorway sticker.
